Looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Become a Truckee PD Volunteer and work alongside our officers to make a real impact. As a volunteer, you’ll receive training, a full uniform, and the opportunity to contribute in exciting, hands-on roles.

As a volunteer, you’ll help with:

🔹 Emergency response support
🔹 Crime scene and accident assistance
🔹 Boat patrols on Donner Lake

Truckee Police Dive Team Training at Donner Lake!

The Truckee Police Department’s Dive Team, along with the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, recently completed an important dive training at Donner Lake.

Did you know our Dive Team regularly trains here to stay prepared for any water emergency in our community? This essential training helps our team stay sharp and ready for any water-related emergency in our community. Each member of the Dive Team holds a minimum certification of Rescue Diver, ensuring they’re equipped to handle tough situations under water.

Not only does our Dive Team conduct in water operations, but also the use of advanced remote operated vehicles (ROVs) equipped with cutting-edge sonar technology.

This rigorous training keeps our community safe, especially in high-altitude, cold-water environments like Donner Lake.

WINTER PARKING ORDINANCE (Section 10.17.030)

A winter parking ban is in effect from November 1 to April 30, enforced by the Truckee Police Department. Violators may be ticketed or towed. This ordinance prohibits parking on Town roads and public right-of-ways.

The purpose of this ban is to ensure that snow removal and ice control operations can be conducted without obstruction. Keeping the roads clear enhances the safety and efficiency of our Public Works Department. Please note that parking behind snow poles is not enough—you must ensure your vehicle is fully out of the public right-of-way.

With the upcoming storm and reduced visibility, clear roads will be essential for safe and efficient snow removal. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain smooth and safe operations.

Here are a few reminders for both kids and drivers to keep Halloween safe for everyone:

For Trick-or-Treaters:
🔮 Stick with a parent or guardian while trick-or-treating.
🔮 Cross only at street corners, and avoid crossing between parked cars.
🔮 Use a flashlight, glow stick, or reflective tape to stay visible.
🔮 Watch for cars, especially those turning or backing up.
🔮 Remember: never enter a stranger’s home or car.

For Drivers:
🔮 Stay alert for trick-or-treaters, and drive with extra caution.
🔮 Slow down, especially in neighborhoods with limited visibility.
🔮 Expect to see more pedestrians in unexpected places—slow speeds save lives.
🔮 Watch for kids who may run out between parked cars or from behind bushes.
🔮 Keep your phone out of reach and your eyes on the road.
🔮 If you spot a suspected impaired driver, please contact law enforcement.

Today is National First Responders Day, a day designated by the United States Congress to honor the brave men and women who dedicate their lives to serving others. These heroes respond without hesitation, whether to everyday incidents or unimaginable tragedies.

As a nation, we come together in gratitude for their tireless commitment, working around the clock to protect and support their communities. We also pause to remember and pay tribute to the first responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, recognizing the extraordinary risks they face each day. #nationalfirstrespondersday

Earlier this week, a regional sex offender compliance sweep was conducted by members of the Truckee Police Department, @nevada_county_sheriffs_office, and @nevadacountyprobation. During the operation, all registrants contacted in the greater Truckee area were found to be in full compliance with their terms.

In California, those who are convicted of specified sexual offenses are required to register as sex offenders with local law enforcement. The Truckee Police Department’s Investigations Unit actively monitors all Sex Offenders living within our jurisdiction and conducts routine in-field compliance checks to ensure offenders are abiding by all required terms under the law.

The information contained on this site is public information and extracted from the California Sex and Arson Registry (CSAR), the State’s repository for all sex offender information.
