The Parking District recently upgraded all pay stations in Downtown Truckee. To get going on your summer adventures quickly, follow these simple steps to park Downtown:
How to Use a Pay Station:
Push the green circle button on the right-side of the screen.
Enter your full license plate number. Make sure to double-check your plate before proceeding!
Submit your payment and select the amount of time you want to park.
Choose if you want a text or emailed receipt. Paper receipts are no longer required! Now you’re ready to enjoy Downtown Truckee.

Fire restrictions went into effect within the Truckee Fire Protection District on Monday, June 23 in conjunction with the CAL FIRE burning suspension.

Please continue to create defensible space around homes and property even though burning will no longer be permitted. Remember that green waste pick-up services are available for free at TruckeeFire.org/greenwaste

Summer is here, and that means more time on the water! Mugz is making a splash in his bright green shark vest but he’s not just swimming for fun. He’s here to remind you about important water safety tips for everyone, including your furry friends!

Water Safety Tips for a Safe Summer 🌊
✅ Always Wear a Life Jacket
Whether you’re boating, paddleboarding, or just wading in deep water—life jackets save lives. That goes for pets too!

✅ Stay Within Designated Swim Areas
Stick to marked zones and avoid boating lanes.

✅ Watch for Cold Water & Currents
Even in summer, water in Donner Lake and other local bodies of water can be frigid and dangerous. Cold water shock can happen fast.

✅ Keep an Eye on the Weather
Storms can roll in quickly. If skies darken or winds pick up, get to shore immediately.

✅ Supervise Children & Pets
Accidents happen in seconds. Always keep a close eye on kids and animals near water.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) passed throug

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) passed through Truckee this week, uniting regional law enforcement partners and Town of Truckee staff in support of Special Olympics Northern California.

Part of an international movement of over 110,000 law enforcement personnel, LETR is the largest grassroots fundraiser for Special Olympics, raising over $900 million globally and $20 million in Northern California alone!

The Truckee Police Department lobby will be closed

The Truckee Police Department lobby will be closed tomorrow, June 19th, in observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day. The lobby will reopen Friday, June 20th at 8am.

As always, our officers, community service officers, dispatchers and Animal Services staff are still available. To report a crime, call (530) 550-2320. In an emergency, call 9-1-1.

On June 7th, members of the Truckee Police Department rolled up their sleeves and joined the community for Truckee Clean Up Day at beautiful Donner Lake. Together, we collected trash and unwanted items to help keep our lake and shoreline clean and safe for everyone to enjoy.

We’re proud to serve a community that cares deeply about preserving our natural spaces. A big thank you to all who participated and helped make a positive impact!

CASE UPDATE: In December of 2023, Truckee PD Detec

CASE UPDATE: In December of 2023, Truckee PD Detectives investigated multiple reports of a male suspect having used a fake school district email address to contact adult women via unsolicited Facetime video calls. Upon answering these calls, victims discovered a male suspect exposing himself and engaging in other lewd conduct. With the assistance of Investigators from the Nevada County District Attorney’s Office, TPD executed multiple search warrants resulting in the identification and arrest of Jesus Alonzo, 28, of Truckee. During his arrest, numerous electronic devices were seized and later searched, leading investigators to discover evidence of other felony crimes pertaining to the possession and manufacturing of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

Last month, Jesus Alonzo was successfully convicted on both felony and misdemeanor charges pertaining to these acts. The conviction also triggered the requirement for lifetime registration as a Sex Offender in the State of California. The Truckee Police Department would like to thank our community for reporting these incidents to law enforcement when they occurred, as these efforts directly assisted with Alonzo’s arrest and further discovery of other sexual offenses involving children.
